Are you considering starting a blog to make extra income from home? As a mom, the idea of earning money while staying home with your baby can be incredibly appealing.
Before I started my blog, I was obsessed with reading blogging income reports, especially from other beginner mom bloggers.
I know blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme to make money online, but most “first month” income reports didn’t feel realistic. Many bloggers were already experienced or only shared an income report after months of work, not their true beginning or the early existence of their blog.
So I decided to document my journey from day one.
This is my first month blogging income report as a mom, including my real income, authentic traffic stats, what I learned, and my goals moving forward. Again, I have no prior experience as a beginner blogger, and this is truly my first month blogging.
Why I’m Sharing My Blogging Income Reports
I want my blogging income reports to be authentic and real to encourage other bloggers who are in the same boat as myself. I’m a young married working mom with an eight month old boy with a goal to make enough income blogging in 18 months (or by baby #2!) to be able to stay at home and raise my babies.
I started my blog on March 17th, 2026 and I am capping my “first month” statistics on April 17th, 2026. Other than my supportive husband, my family and friends don’t know about my blog.
Income After My First Month Blogging
That being said, how much did I earn after my very first month blogging?
Actual Income: $0 (Goal: $0)
This is completely normal for a first month blogging income report, especially as a beginner building trust with Google. To be honest,I don’t expect to make money blogging for the first few months while I build traffic and trust. I’m still teaching Google that I’m a consistent (and real, not AI) author, so Google will need a few months to recognize who I am.
Traffic After My First Month Blogging
Actual Pageviews: 79 (Goal: 10)
For my first month blogging, I was excited to see this level of blog traffic growth as a new mom blogger. My goal was 10 pageviews, so I’m glad that I got off to a strong start with 79. I use Google Analytics to track my blog traffic and pageviews as a beginner blogger. I’ve really tried to stay off my website as much as possible to avoid inflating the numbers.
It’s also worth noting that out of the 79 pageviews total for the month, I had a sudden surge (at least for me) of 35 users in one day in the middle of my reporting time frame. I’m unsure of the correlation, but I’m eager to see if this repeats itself next month.
What I Learned in My First Month Blogging
I quickly noted that writing the actual posts was only a fraction of my time behind the screen. The learning curve as a beginner blogger is definitely steep. During my first month blogging, I’ve learned a lot about keyword research, SEO, taking pictures for my blog, navigating my own website, and using Pinterest to grow blog traffic.
I’m also balancing my blogging journey as a mom blogger during my baby’s nap time.
If I’m going to use a blog as my path to be a SAHM, I don’t want my baby to grow up seeing myself glued to a screen 24/7.
I’ve definitely learned a lot during my first month blogging as a beginner mom blogger about time management. I’ve learned what parts of my blog I can accomplish during the estimated allotted time I have (and what parts can be accomplished one-handed during those contact naps).
My Goals for Month 2 of Blogging
For month two, my blogging income goals will remain at $0 as I continue building traffic. It’s also worth noting that in order to gain income, I have to have some sort of path such as affiliate marketing or placing ads on my website, and I simply don’t have that yet. My goal is to grow my blog with at least 10 posts before trying to make money blogging through ads or affiliate marketing.
I plan on applying to Google Adsense for ads and Amazon Affiliates for affiliate marketing once I hit this goal. I know there are better options for ad revenue, but these are beginner friendly programs. Hopefully I will apply towards the end of next month.
My goal is to continue increasing my blog traffic and monthly pageviews. I’m going to bump my monthly pageviews goal up to 35. If I fall short, so be it. There’s always next month!
I initially had a goal of writing a blog post 2, maybe 3 times a week. Given how much time I’ve spent learning about other areas of my blog, I’ve really only written an average of once a week. In a few weeks, though, I hope to be able to get better at time management where I can be on a consistent basis to post twice a week.
